Hello,
I received my Airbag recall notice for my 2008 GMC Denali, (vin #1GKFK63838J), which is in perfect condition, garaged, and has never been in an accident. I brought my vehicle into FOLSOM BUICK GMC
12640 AUTO MALL CIR, FOLSOM, CA, 95630.
The customer service Rep commented that my dashboard was in perfect condition. At that time she informed me that replacing the Airbag would most likely crack my dashboard and that GM will not pay for any damages. Again, my dashboard is in perfect condition. She told me that they tell this to all their customers.
I said replacing the dashboard would cost at least a thousand dollars. She agreed and asked if I still wanted to have my Airbag replaced. I said no. She told me that most people don't have it replaced.
I told her that would mean thousands of people who either couldnt afford or wouldnt pay that much are driving around with faulty Air Bags putting themselves and passengers lives at risk. She didn't say anything.
I called General Motors Corp customer service. The person I talked to acknowledged that GM would not pay damages resulting from the Airbag replacement. I explained the risk factors for the owners and she just apologized.
I filed a complaint with my Better Business Bureau.
Upon receiving the complaint a person from the GM resolution department called and took down my information and said she would look into this. A week later she called back and said the technicians verified that yes there was a high probability that fixing the Airbag would result in damage to the dash and that GM would not pay for damages. I explained the safety ramafications involved and she agreed but would not pay for damages. I also told her that this smells like a scam since the dashboard and all parts are made and sold by GMC which means they would be making money on every replacement.
She said that was true. We (the vehicle owners) had nothing to do with these faulty Airbags yet will have to pay General Motors for the parts and labor to have it replaced or drive around with the defective Airbag as is and risk our lives or our passengers.
This is wrong and General Motors needs to pay any and all damages caused by replacing the Airbag and stop trying to take advantage of the situation.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this please call me.
Thank you,
Joe Baker

Bought Car from Quebedeau GMC Buick in Tucson that won't allow buyer to take possession.
I am very disappointed in the Quebedeau GMC Buick dealership located in Tucson, Arizona. On November18,,2021, my grandson purchased a Ford Mustang from Quebedeau GMC Buick.
Pursuant to an advertisement of the car, my grandson made arrangements to travel from Phoenix to Tucson to buy the car. Upon completion of the sale, my grandson was informed that he would not be allowed to take the car until an inspection was completed. My grandson who is a father of a child born last December lives and works in Phoenix, Arizona, approximately 100 miles from the dealership. Due to the fact that he was not allowed to take the car off the lot, he has experienced considerable hardship by being without any transportation.
In order to go to work and return home, he has had to arrange for Lyft transportation. This is costly and very inconvenient. First of all, a dealership should not advertise and sell cars that cannot be driven off the lot upon completion of the purchase. Secondly, the salesman, Joe Sanchez should not be telling my grandson that it has a problem that needs attention and that it will be ready on a certain day, then thereafter, inform him that something else is wrong with the car.
It seems that Mr. Sanchez comes up with a different excuse as to why my grandson cannot take possession of the car.
The most recent excuse is that black coal is coming from the exhaust. I think you should be aware of what is happening at the Quebedeau GMC Buick dealership and make some changes on how to sell used cars.
