General Motors in Downers Grove, Illinois - 2012 GMC Terrain with bad wheel bearing

2.0
Details
I recently took our 2012 Terrain to the dealer for a front end noise which was diagnosed as a bad left front wheel bearing. The vehicle has just under 20k miles (we bought it new). Dealer and GMC telling me it's normal wear and tear. What a bunch of BS. We baby this vehicle! I think I'm done with General Motors. And what's really sad I took pride in only buying vehicles that were from American companies. I'm starting to see why consumers buy foreign cars.

General Motors - Buick Enclave Review from Solvang, California

2.5
Details
Turned is my Buick Enclave for a wave guide plate issue and it is covered under a special coverage adjustment. Symptoms were no reverse and no first or second gear. I also have a water pump leak which is also a water pump shaft seal recall, and a seat belt recall and a rear lift recall. Yet the dealer nor the GM corporate customer service will provide with transportation...i.e. Rental car. The dealership told me they can't authorize so I contacted GM customer service, customer service told me to ask the dealer. What ? Really? Meanwhile the customer gets the short straw!!! Can anyone in GM help? I'm not so sure. I asked the GM customer rep Tyler to call the dealer and work this issue out but as of yet IT IS NOT RESOLVED! Sincerely, unsatisfied customer☹️☹️☹️

General Motors - 2010 Gmc Terrain Review from Saint Catharines, Ontario

I brought my 2010 Terrain into John Bear in St.Catharines for recall work and scheduled a transmission flush. Two months later I was faced with a $4300 bill to replace the transmission. As I was towing a utility trailer and camping outside North Bay I needed something to get us home. I bought a 2015 Sierra with a trade in. On returning home I had a discussion with Bears and subsequently traded in the Seirra for a 2015 F150. I will never buy another GM vehicle after this incident. As a retired GM production worker this was not an easy decision.

General Motors in Butler, Pennsylvania - GMC Black Friday and Shop Click Drive False Advertising

1.0
Details
We purchase a new car about every year, but we've never purchased a new GM product. My wife decided she liked the Acadia so we start doing some research at about the same time the 2015 Black Friday sale started. We searched local inventory and used the GMC website "Shop, Click, Drive" feature that says "The price you see is the price you pay". Using the GMC website we found a vehicle and the summary of the price showed the Black Friday discount combined with a $2500 trade allowance that was issued to us from the "Shop Click Drive" site, along with an estimated trade-in value for our vehicle. So we proceeded to the dealer where they agreed to the trade-in price that the website showed, but they informed us the $2500 trade in allowance couldn't be combined with the Black Friday deal. At this point I showed them the printout directly from the GMC website that should line by line MSRP, Black Friday discount, $2500 trade in allowance, estimated trade-in and final price. They said they'd have to research it as it was out of their control and from GM directly. So we went home and let the dealer sort it out. The next day the dealer said the two deals couldn't be combined. At this point we contacted GMC Marketing directly. I couldn't understand how the information provided from the GMC website wouldn't be honored. After several frustrating hours talking to various agents, providing an email of the "Shop Click Drive" summary, and asking them to escalate this issue, the final conclusion they provided to us was that while the website showed the Black Friday combined with the $2500 trade-in allowance there was actually disclaimers that said not all offers were able to be combined. I understand this, but the GMC website combined these offers on the summary. At this point I told the agent I would never purchase a GMC vehicle and I will warn everyone I know about this experience. In my opinion this this is down right fraud and false advertising. Even if it was a glitch in the system GMC should have made an exception and honored their mistake. All I can say is beware of any advertised pricing from GMC, and GM has lost at least one customer for life.

I am curious, which gasket was it? GM's rebuilt transmissions are normally sealed units , they even come with fluid inside. Something does not make sense.

General Motors - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox Review from Paw Paw, Michigan

1.0
Details
I have a 2010 Equinox bought it in 2014. First year loved it. Best car I ever had then in june the engine light came on and rpms would go way up like transmission was slipping. Finally in August took it to dealership because the Engine low power light was coming on and the car wouldnt go. Timing chains at 120,000 miles which I have been told shouldn't happen. After a month in the shop the very day I get it back it has hesitation. It was getting worse so took it back and now they say catalytic convertor. This is *** 1700.00 for timing chains and now 1000.00 for another repair. I loved this car and would have bought another but this is getting frustrating. I think the dealership did something or GM needs to do something to make this right. I cant afford this and am out raged this keeps happening.

General Motors in Tennessee - Corvette service

Tried a new local Dealership for replacement of alternator on 2008 corvette. Before fixing I asked for quoted price and received a quote of almost a thousand dollars plus tax and ad called my regular dealership and received a quote of $600.00 what a rip off. Then called Don Ledford Chevrolet back (new dealership) and told them of the Reeder Chevrolet (previous dealership) quote and they immediately dropped the price. This pissed me off due to the fact that they instantly dropped the price proving to me they were ripping me off. The sad part was I was going to purchase a new $60,000.00 truck from Don Ledford Chevrolet the following day, that being said I took my business back to Reeder Chevrolet immediately and would warn anyone to stay away from Don Ledford Chevrolet in Athens TN.

General Motors in Raleigh, North Carolina - Hypocritical GM

The driver’s side safety belt in my 2000 Sierra failed, rendering the vehicle unusable. In a NY Times article, a GM representative claimed that “The General Motors Corporation, which markets 44 percent of all the cars sold in the United States, has decided to offer free repairs of defective seat belts in its cars and trucks,” and further that “… in response to an inquiry, the company said, ''If there are any safety-related defects in our safety belts, G.M. will correct them at no charge.'' http://www.nytimes.com/1986/08/10/us/gm-offers-free-repair-of-faulty-seat-belts.html I wrote GM, referring to the article, asking if they would honor that promise. After asking me to provide all sorts of documentation, their response that the seat belt is an "ordinary warranty item," and that mine would not be repaired free of charge. So GM took an opportunity to lie and garner some positive publicity, but evidently never intended to keep its word. I have been a loyal GM vehicle owner for years, but my next vehicle will be a Ford. They might not have repaired my seat belt for free, either, but at least they didn't lie about it.

Just curious, how do you know that the information in the article posted is true?? I have worked in GM parts and service since 1983, and I have never heard of that. Seat belt "extenders" are free.

General Motors in Edmundston, New Brunswick - 2011 Chevrolet Malibu Seatbelt Recall 6 months and still waiting

1.0
Details
GM issued a recall for the 2011 Chevrolet Malibu in May of 2015. Six months later there is still no remedy for the recall. I cannot import my Malibu into Canada because of this recall. I am left without a vehicle that is completely paid for. GM Canada will not provide me with a loaner vehicle. GM USA will have nothing to do with me because I now live in Canada. Customer service has been very poor. My calls go unreturned. Representatives give me all kinds of excuses why they can't help me. Managers or supervisors are never around to answer questions. I have bought two vehicles from Chevrolet trying to support North American carmakers. I will never buy from them again.
