General Motors in Pickering, Ontario - AC broken down and heating requiring reset

The AC in my 2009 Buick enclave broke down after seeing 4 Canadian summers. The heating also boke down. Heating was fixed at a cost of $200 to me by the dealer resetting certain codes. However, for the AC I am told there is a $600 damage that I am on the hook for. Clearly a brand new AC breaking down after seeing 4 Canadian summers speaks volumes about it's quality. There are over a 1000 complaints about this on the GM site. Is GM waiting for federal intervention or a class action lawsuit to fix this? It is high time for a recall. I am not a State Attorney General or a Federal Attorney General but an unassuming helpless GM customer hoping I don't have to foot a $800 bill on a realtively new vehicle because GM chose to install sub-standard air conditioners in their cars.

General Motors in Montreal, Quebec - 2008 Yukon XL Dead Rear AC AGAIN!

Why or why do we still buy these useless GM vehicles? We owned 4 different GMC Suburban, Denali, Yukon Xl etc... They all had the rear AC go bad after a few years. Impossible to have any GM truck from 1991-2014 with rear AC still operational after 3-4 years in a Northern climate (NY). GM has known about this issue for over 23 years but has not been responsible towards its clients that have had to pay over $1500 every time for this repair. On top of that the repairs only last for a couple of years. A serious reoccuring loss of time and money. GM continues to produce the same exact defect year after year. Shame on them...but nothing last forever walk into any GM dealer and you can sense the archaic methods and vintage attitude still permeating the place. How incredible that they were bailed out with tax payers money. I wonder if we produced the same bad design in our business for over 23 years if uncle Sam will also bail us out when thing go South? No wonder everyone calls them General Mistake!

General Motors in Yulee, Florida - 2005 GMC Brake Failure

After reading numerous GM complaints and spending over 2 weeks with GM customer care case number 71-1277824944 and filing a complaint with NHTSA ODI # 10566568 I have given up! I own a 2005 GMC Sierra and I am the only owner! So called Mr. Goodwrench is the only person to work on my vehicle. The truck has 43500 miles when without warning of any ABS light or prior brake issue, I was driving to pick up my kids traveling 45 mph when the brakes went out, I had to apply the ebrake and luckily came to a stop and returned home without incident. Come to find out GMC states it is corrosion/rust, I work in the auto industry and many of my family members are retired GM plant and admin workers and devoted GM loyalists. I thought for sure GM would stand behind a safety related product, but after speaking with GM customer I don't care representatives Lysette, Maria, Kristen, Derek, & Aubrey last names and emails unknown as they will not provide, they say GM is doing nothing. Strange that I don't live in the NE and don't drive the vehicle everyday! However, again GM's position is that it is not a safety issue and the single brake line corroded/rusted out is not a inferior product/brake line and simply rusted due to the elements, funny nobody at GM wants to view my photos of the one rusted line and the others that are not! GM customer service is lip service and they do not care nor will they or anyone else that works with GM admit or accept the fact the brake lines that GM put on my truck and countless others are inferior! So, I will pay my local GM dealer the customary GM go screw yourself charge for MR GOODWRENCHS handy work and non resolution of a safety product defect that GM accepts no responsibility for. As with all else I will fight the charges as MR GOODWRENCH stated he was working with GM customer I don't care service to get things covered only to later stick me with the bill without any written repair cost estimate or agreement with me to complete the work. Thus, leading me on to believe GM was taking care of the problem. I will send this issue to BBB on GM and the dealer in Florida and the only GM product you will ever see in my driveway will be owned by someone else and I will definitely let them know about GM products.

I own a 2003 Avalanche. Lost a brake line on the way to work nearly wrecked as I didn't know they failed until the line ruptured.

I have looked into this and has taken the stance that hard brake lines are maintenance items. Bearings, belts, brake shoes, battery are maintenance items. Brake lines are not! When I looked under the vehicle to check the lines, I was stunned.

I drive a 73 Charger for almost 20 years, it STILL to this day doesn't look as bad as these brake lines. I drive this truck once a week. GM has avoided the lawsuits and has the government in their pocket or or on their side (however you want to say it) by redefining what a maintenance part is on a vehicle, but now (ironically) are offering vinyl covered brake line replacements. Hmmm - maybe they are seeing an issue too?

I won't be buying another GM truck again and I replacing all the brake lines with stainless. GM where profit margins are more important than customers - period. I got a complete set of stainless lines for about $70 bent for my truck. $70 for saving a life and the total cost of an Avalanche is on the mid $40s.

Shame on you GM for not stepping up and fixing these issues! Just a little chromium and a little nickle when the lines were made would fix all of this and it's NOT about the road treatments it's poor quality parts period.

My husband is having to replace one breakline on his pontiac bonneville 2005 gxp that completely rusted out. We looked for these lines only to be told by the dealership that there are no brake lines made for this model.

It is almost ten years old and yes I as a mechanic understand that these things happn, but why is the brake line (and I mean only one) doing this. This is a huge safety hazard and they should be reaponsible for it.

We have decided since we too have dealt with the customer I dont care reps for something else that we will never own another gm automobile ever. I will go with a dodge instead.

General Motors - 2008 Equinox no start condition

I own a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. Day before yesterday I replaced the blown 10 amp fuse for the windshield washer. I then proceeded to start the vehicle up and make sure the windshield washer worked after replacing the fuse. Vehicle started as it normally would and the windshield washer worked as it should. The following day my wife had some errands to run and got in the Equinox to start it and it would not make a sound at all. When you turn the key to the start position the headlights go out along with all the dash lights. The security key symbol on the dash is not illuminated. I looked toward the forums and troubleshooting aids on the internet and saw it may be related to the security chip in the ignition key, tried using spare extra key that gets less use, still same condition. Any help in solving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

General Motors - Engine was replaced (?) at 45,000 miles, now transmission went out

I will never deal with GM again. I will go back to a Honda or a Toyota: Owned both, each well over 100,000 miles without problems. This 2010 Equinox has been a joke. I made over 30 trips to Buff Whalen Chevrolet for low oil, did 3 oil consumption tests before I finally received a "new engine." Who knows what they really gave me. I was told all the engines made in Mexico had scarring on the inside walls, therefore using oil. The engines should have all been recalled. However, they would rather put customers through this living *** of trying to get the problem diagnosed, (they already know what the problem is) rather than just give us new engines. PEOPLE, WE NEED and DESERVE A RECALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, 27,000 miles after the engine ordeal, my car is in the shop and has been for 8 days. The transmission went out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to fight for a rental car, this time from TENNYSON CHEVROLET. And this car doesn't qualify under the lemon law, because on my 30 visits, no attempt was made to FIX the problem.. Yes, OIL CONSUMPTION does NOT QUALIFY as trying to FIX the problem. GM is the WORST. I will NEVER OWN another GM and I don't think I even want to accept a GM vehicle if I ever need to rent a car.. They also offered me 1,500.00 on a new vehicle and the dealership offered to match that. REALLY?????????????????? There are directions on google to start a recall. This needs to happen.

I bought a 2010 Equinox with the 2.4l in it. We had to have the time chain replaced twice! Each time I asked if this was damaging the engine and was assured it was not. Well, now that the warranty has expired dealer says I need new pistons and rings for a grand total...
