GM Goodwrench service center Rustproofing with lifetime warranty canceled without notifying customers!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Anyone who purchased lifetime rustproofing through GM Goodwrench service center in the 80's and still has the vehicle, you no longer have coverage! GM has violated all the contracts and ended the program without notifying any of it's customers. When finally contacting someone at GM that wouldn't just ignore me (due to me threatening legal action) it took them almost a month to even figure out any information on this product. Then it was all denial as usual. End result, we paid for lifetime protection, got screwed, and they don't care. They try to say that this was a third party company unaffiliated with GM...really....GM Goodwrench service center is no part of GM! I called a GM Goodwrench fluids specialist and he was more than happy to help me until I gave him my contract number. After that he would never pick up the phone when I called or return any of my messages ever again. Typical GM runaround, if there is a problem, ignore it until it goes away.

U- Joint Leaking Grease

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
2013 Chevy Silverado 4x4 rear drive shaft, the front U-joint leaking grease 28000 miles. U-joint on new cars and trucks do not have grease zerks, they are seal bearing type. Replacement parts have grease zerks. So you can grease them. U-joints on new truck can't be greased. If they leak grease out they go dry, then this will cause U-joint to fail. Took to dealer ( Al Serra, in Grand Blanc) for repair, dealer wash grease off, said nothing wrong. Called GM complaint line. They said look in to it. Finally called me back said they contacted dealer. Dealer said it was to GM guide lines. Wouldn't do anything for me. So GM and Dealer ( Al Serra) feel it Ok let it go until it breaks loose and possible cause an accident.

started the car, and all the dash lights came on, followed by traction control shutting down, and engine powering down. the throttle body was repaced in January, followed by the wheel bearings. Now the dealer is saying the problem was caused by after market bearings. we know that this claim is B S. the dealer also took out the codes, so my mechanic could not tell what they said, and said they could fix it for $835. if it was "supposed" to be fixed, under warranty, why should I pay again?????? this makes 2 vehicles that are JUNK... wont be fooled again!!!!!!

Was sold a 2014 chevy Cruze with open axle recall

Bought a used 2014 Cruze from my local chevy dealer. It was a certified vehicle. The car fax showed a open recall for a defective axle. The salesperson, and sales manager informed me that they couldn't sell me the car unless the recall was fixed. And they said it was fixed. This was in July 2014. In November I bring it in for a oil change at dealer and the chevy service tech told me that there still was a open recall on the axle. The same recall that I was told was fixed! After researching the recall while waiting 2 hours for them to fix it I found out that gm issued a stop sale order on all vehicles with this problem until they are fixed. But somehow I was sold this vehicle anyway. I'm very upset because I drive my CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE!!! When I confronted they sales manager they really didn't deny or confirm my accusation. But "for my inconvenience he offered to give me a full tank of gas"... Is that really all it takes to sweep a federal offense under the carpet?

After many talks with service manager and then finally sales manager they finally agreed that they made a huge mistake selling me the car. The solution?

I told them I didn't want the car anymore. They traded it in for me and gave me the 18k that was paid for it. Even though I had it for 6 months and 6k miles.

I'm satisfied with the result and will continue to do business with naperville chevy.

2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT-curling dashboard

I own a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT. The dashboard started curling after about 5 years.

I contacted the dealership and was told there was no recall and the car was out of warranty. The only solution was to have the dashboard and vents replaced to the tune of $1,100!!! I have seen MANY complaints on the web regarding the curling of dashboards in 2001 - **** Grand Ams. I think it is rediculous that with the number of complaints GM has not issued a recall for replacement of these curling dashboards and broken vents.

Very irresponsible and total lack of intergity on GM's part. I expected better from GM.

You buy a used American car and expect what? Historically, American cars have placed far behind the German & Japanese in quality.

If you want pristine quality you should buy new.

If you have a beer budget why would you expect Champagne taste? Next time perform the minimal amount of due diligence before spending your hard earned money and you will discover your headaches will be minimized.

My 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, dash is curled all around the windshield. and all vents broke, effects my defroster and air conditioning!!

They need to issue a recall my car has been great mechanically, the only issue is the dashboard continuing to curl back more and more. Heat in Atlanta Ga does't help matters either I thing thats why mine is so bad more than 3" away from windshield -all around.

Mine has done the same thing, but how do you fix it.

Guest

My husband also has a 2001 Grand Am and his dash is really bad on the drivers side corner and the vent on top of the dash is broken. His seal around the sun roof is also chipping away.

The car is in really good shape other than those two items.

I didn't realize that this was a common problem among Grand Am owners. Good to know.

I have a 2002 grand am and mine is really messed up. It's a shame gm doesn't recall this problem when there is such a high percentage of cars with this issue.

Guest

I agree completely!!! The problem seems to be the contact cement Pontiac used to glue the foam to the dash substrate

Guest

dash is *** and is safety hazard no clear view

Guest

My husband has a 2004 grand am as well and we have noticed that the dashboard has started to lift up. The driver's side is up at least 2 or 3 inches and the passenger side is just starting to lift up. He has also lost the covers on the vents.

Oil Pump Valve at 37,500Miles

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am an owner of a 2013 Chevy Malibu, in which I've had for two years. This is actually the second Chevy I've had in 4 years, and have not wrecked either car. It seems as though, I have issues on these cars every two years and this doesn't make me happy. I just received an oil change roughly three weeks ago and now I have a check engine light and a message that says "Engine Power Reduced". I bought my car from the Nashville Carl Black Chevrolet and I get it maintenanced at Carl Black Kennesaw. - October 1 - had a routine oil change - October 21 - had my oil valve replaced-----> I only have just over 37,500 miles, which I had to pay a deductible. After speaking to another Chevy rep, they mentioned to me that the oil valve should not be a problem until the car has hit 100,000 miles.

2011 Cruze--Replacing Water Pump second time in 8 months

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The car has been leaking coolant since October 2013, but a mechanic should not identify the cause. Scoggins Chevrolet in Chiefland, Florida replaced the water pump in March 2014, but the leak persisted. I returned it to the dealer after getting a letter from GM about the coolant problem (not a recall, though). The car has been at Scoggins dealership since October 28th to replace the water pump. Problem after problem and it still is not ready for pick up. 14+ days to repair a water pump--unbelievable! I have been dealing with GM Customer Service, but they can't really do anything. I have bought a Ford for me and will encourage my husband to trade the Cruze when we are able. So sad since I have owned GMs for over 20 years.

After dealership fixed recall, car is no longer derivable!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My 05' Cobalt was running fine, no issues at all! I got a letter from GM about the recall on ignition and power steering. I was not having any issues with the recalled part at all. I took it to Hobson Chevrolet in Cairo, when I got it back my power steering failed. The dealership said the replacement part was bad. They towed it back and replaced it again. When I got it back it was having the same issue and more. the transmission was shifting hard and the gauges in the dash were going crazy, and my power steering still does not work after they installed two brand new power steering moters. The dealership refuses to fix it unless I pay and the general manager is never in and never returns my phone calls. I called GM customer care and they were no help at all. GM said the issue could be due to an aftermarket part on my car that I didn't realize was there. This has been going on for 3 weeks. I don't understand how gm is not responsible. I drove my car there with no problems what so ever and I had to tow it to another mechanic. As if my car magically got sick while in there care. I am very disappointing in the way the dealership and GM handled this.

Getting help with this recall is a waste!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My key gets stuck in my ignition and I went to the Rick Hendrick dealership in Charleston, SC to see if there was a recall, I was told no but I looked it up before I left and I showed it to them. The service manager was rude and was trying to tell me that it is my fault because I have too many keys weighing my ignition down. I only have 2 keys on my key ring and my key pad there is no way possible that is the truth. So a few weeks later I get the letter in the mail, I called back to make an appointment and one of the service advisors Melvina, was telling me she did not know how she could help but she would transfer me, so she transfer me to another service advisor and he was just rude and disrespectful and started yelling at me and telling me that there is nothing he can do and that I have to wait 3 days before they would try and get it in. There was no remorse or anything. So I called the recall center and I was sent to the Mt . Pleasant Chevrolet dealer but I have to wait once again. This is ridiculous, I have never put out so much money in a car. I pay more to get the car fix then I am able to afford to pay my car payment. I have spent over 3000 to get this car fix within the last year this is ridiculous. Especially since I had to pay for my car to get fix last year and then you decide to do a recall on the reduced power and traction control. I feel as a company of your worth you should compensate your customers, otherwise you will have major lawsuits. I hate to say this but this is the path I am going to take if I do not get help with this Chevrolet Impala.

I currently having a problem with my 2010 Chevy equinox. It doesn't start and locks the car, my neighbor has the same car and he is experiencing the same problem. I an very nervous to take my car anywhere. It's fairly new and I think the warranty is going out and that's why this is happening. I would like to trade it in but I don't want the same car and I'm not going to add the remaining balance I owe for my equinox to the new car and that's 20,000 dollars.

General Motors - buyers beware- GM Warranties- GM wll rip you off

Apparently there is a clause in the GM purchase plan that forbids buyers from suing the automaker in a warranty dispute. Consumers who have a warranty dispute with GM --DaimlerChrysler has a similar clause while Ford doesn't --must use a process called mandatory, binding arbitration. Buyers can't sue in a court of law and can't appeal the arbitration ruling if they lose. In essence, people who buy vehicles under the purchase plan are waiving their right to seek compensation in state and federal courts. The distinction is important because consumers win more frequently and more money in court than they do in front of an arbitrator or dispute-resolution board. Automakers prefer arbitration because it is quicker and cheaper.
