General Motors in Eureka, California - GMC Acadia - GM outright lies about MPG

We bought the GMC Acadia because we needed a vehicle for our business that was large enough to carry supplies but practical enough to use everyday and got decent gas mileage. The vehicle itself is really nice. However GM states it boasts a leading HWY gas mileage for 8 passenger SUV's at 24 miles per gallon and city 17. We have had the car 4 months now and have put on 9000 miles. In all that driving the best it ever got HWY was 18 MPG and overall averaging 15 MPG. It is costing us more in gas each month than our payment of $636. That's a lot of gas. Apparently we aren't the only people complaining. I have ready numerous complaints regarding the fuel inefficiency of the Acadia. All GM says is to have a diagnostic run on the car. If there's a problem it's under warranty. If no problem, we have to pay the bill. Then they might run a consumption test but no details of what they would do after the results. Other Acadia owners have already done this and after the test and adjustments they are getting even worse mileage. We would have never bought this vehicle if the stated MPG was even close to this bad. GM should do a massive recall and allow owners a chance to get out of this vehicle. Meanwhile we're stuck and draining our pocketbook.

I just traded a 2011 Acadia with 14123 miles on it,due to the poor mpg, and lack of pulling power because of the 3.16 RR. The final straw

came when I had to pull a EMPTY 6x12 open flat utility trailer to Ohio.My gas miliage went from 18.5 to 11mpg. Great car other wise but the rear end was the last straw. If GM would put a 3.43 RR that would be the ticket. This was my second Acadia 2008&2011.

Had the leak issues and electrical shorts on the 2008.Had 1.5" of water in the front floor boards and nothing but problems from then on. But CUDOS to Sheets GMC in Greenbank WV, they are the BEST!!!

Traded for a Ford F-150 3.5 Ecoboost WOW!!!!

And I was NEVER a Ford person!

Get it togather GM!!!!! :) :)

General Motors in New Baltimore, Michigan - GM Credit Card rewards program is a Scam

I have been a long time user of the GM credit card. After accumulating over $3000 in rewards I have been told that I can only use $1000 towards the purchase or lease of a new vehicle. This is the only rewards program I am aware of that restricts the use of your rewards like this. It is simply wrong. My only recourse is to stop using the card and stop buying GM products, which I have done. When I call the Rewards Department they offer no solution or help. One would think that a company that just came out of bankruptcy would want to keep good customers instead of driving them away.

I am going to cancel my GM card which if you do not buy a new car every seven years they DEDUCT your credits. This was not that way when I got my first card about 1977.

I bought a Chevy HHR in August 2010 and got my $3,500 (over 7 yr moving window) and $4,000 rebate. I have the GM World Card with the original conditions from the 90's.

The new cards have limits.

The interesting thing is that none of the dealer personnel had heard of the GM World Card.

General Motors in Spring, Texas - 2010 LaCrosse Heated Seats

Passenger seat is not heating as wide an area as it used to. My friend's seat heater does heat as large an area as my car did when new. Dealers say it is in spec. It may be in spec. It does heat but it truly does not heat the full area nor does it heat as hot as it once did. GM says since in spec, nothing can be done. I am frustrated with them after 4 attempts to get the issue resolved. No more GM cars in this family! We have previously owned a total of seven.

General Motors in Reno, Nevada - Failure to notify of defect

My A/C went out in my 2008 Equinox and I had it diagnosed. It was diagnosed as "condenser shield fin ruptured condenser causing loss of A/C". Lo and behold, GM had a notification that was SUPPOSED to go out to owners that told them to get the condenser shield removed at GM's expense due to this potential issue. It expired in Sept 09. Well, GM admitted that a notice WAS NOT mailed to me, but the regional rep "Benita" is denying to repair my car because "I had sufficient time when the notice was sent to get the shield removed!" Hmmmmmm....why would I get it removed if I didn't know about the problem???? I have had numerous calls into the customer NON service department....was supposed to be called back by 2 supervisors...(never called me) and again today was supposed to get a call back!!! How many other 2008 Equinox owners had this issue and paid for it themselves??? In the meantime, I acquired the CEO of GM's home address and phone number!!! Lucky him, he lives in Northern Virginia...just where I live!!!!! Shall we say.....road trip to CEO's home???? :)

I have replaced my condenser due to this issue as well, and threw away the plastic shield. Now here i am a year later, replacing my condenser again because something hit it and broke it. So i am again buying a new condenser (rockauto.com) and trying to figure out a new way to make sure this one doesnt get broke.

Update~~~~

I will give credit to Mr. Akerson and his staff for their response to my call/letter. They did have my situation/issue re-evaluated and did honor the notification from 2009 and since have had my condensor replaced!

When I went to the dealership, it was in the system. I FedEx'd a letter today to the CEO of GM to his personal home.

I confirmed it was delivered this morning so I will give him 2 days to respond.

The customer satifaction notification is “Customer Satisfaction Item #08278” Loss of Air conditioning. You and I are probably just 2 of many owners who were not notified.

I also have a 2008 Equinox with this same issue. When and where did you find the notification, because I did not receive any information on this at all from Chevy.

I will also help and join you in this fight. At the end of the day this is not our fault, and should not be held responsible for poor engineering.

General Motors in Garden Grove, California - DEALER SWITCHED CAR ON ME

I was shown and agreed to buy a 6 cyl. Lacrosse. Later I found out that they had switched cars on me and I had been given a 4 cly. Auto. When I confronted them about the switch, they were very arrogant and I no longer trust them The dealer is TUSTIN BUICK GMC in Tustin Ca. I want to complain directly to GM but I need a phone no. I also have a new Terrain and I'm going to get rid of both as soon as possible and go back to Lexus for my autos. I was switched cars and if this is how GM intends to do buisness then I want no part of them.

General Motors in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland And Labrador - Poor quailty product

I own a 2008 Cobalt with 51,000 kms, warranty expired, the lower control arm bushing failed, terrible product with a failure of this part with so little kilometres. I have owned the vehicle for 1 year, previously I had problems with the cruise control repaired under warranty. These vehicles is near impossible to sell once purchased as they do not maintain value, i have tried but to avail. One cannot never say never however I will despereately try to purchase a product that was not built by GM, I would wish other indivduals looking to purchase to look elsewhere.

General Motors in Tyler, Texas - GE Trash compactor junk

Foot pedal that opens drawer on trash compactor was loose and after tightening it numerous times I found that the screw hole was either made with a slot (allowing the screw to slide out) or the area surrounding the hole was so thin that it broke. In any case it is a case of poor design and I have seen other complaints about this very problem on the web. No one has reported getting any satisfaction fro GE and I am no exception. They offered me a paltry $50 credit toward a new unit or something like that. The repair will involve replacing the entire drawer assembly which if I do it myself will cost almost $200. ...and then I don't know how long it will last, especially if the part that they send is made the same way as the original. In my opinion their service people don't care, since there are still thousands of us suckers out there who fall for their advertising hype, etc. As P.T. Barnum said, there is one born every minute.

The 2001 Olds ALero is garbage. The car breaks down, won't start, then will start. Will stop when driving and won't start again, will then start for a few days then not start again. Several mechanics cannot find the problem and forums on web show hundreds of people...

Consumers have been winning around the country in small claims court on paint failure issues. Do a search for Ford/Mercury Paint Peeling Complaints on the internet. There is also a book written titled: Making It Right - Why Your Car Payments are lasting longer than your FACTORY PAINT JOB

I purchased a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am on May 16, 1997 from my local Pontiac dealer. I love the car and never had any major problems with it for over 11 years. It is the only car I have owned. There is a huge sentimental attachment to it due to this fact. I got my license...
