DR Zach: 1994 Oldsmobile 98 Regency: Security problems all dash lights work. Will not crank with key. Disassemblied steering wheel , power @ one wire, netural on other side. Parts store sez "Replace Ignition Starter switch = N/G " Did ignition key on for 10 minutes test = N/G. Did 30 minutes test = N/G; Did left power window down + 10 minutes key 'on' test = N/G. Back to your situation solder wires solution. Question - Black/White/Yellow wires twisted together & soldered ? Or solder each wire to its terminal? Strange as it may seems, BUT, 100 words to explain this problem is more than enough needed. Problem is auto will not start.

General Motors in Jackson, Mississippi - Made a monte carlo that uses acid for coolant

This is my second Monte Carlo, I've leased a 2001 and love the car even though I had some of the same problems with my 2003 and this car is giving me the same problem. I had my radiator flushed and hoses changed, I had that metal tube that goes around the motor, the coolant tube has been changed and each time they are telling me it's the Dex-cool that GM recommend to use in the car. I spent over $3000.00 over different times getting this problem fix. I was told last night 9/16/10 when I went to pick-up my car that he fixed the coolant tube butthre is also a small leak somewhere else because he still see leakage coming from the motor not the radiator. But he assures me the radiator may be next. I can't afford these repairs and can't afford a new car. I'm using my house note to fix a GM PROBLEM. SOME PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! I not a mechanic, all I want is a dependable car. I've worked for GM and we turned over to Delphi. I would like to keep buying GM but I don't know. I have a 2004 GMC Canyon, equipped with GM's Passlock anti-theft system. In theory, if a thief attempts to start your vehicle with anything other than an original key, the "system" will detect that it not an original key and shut down the fuel supply to the fuel injectors preventing the vehicle from starting. When a GM vehicle is 5-7 years old the system starts to fail and detects a "fault" even with an original key. The customer must then insert his key and wait ten minutes for the vehicle to "relearn" the vehicle's key code. rather that a theft deterrent, GM's solution is to have the owner pay $400-750 to replace the ignition system and/or Passlock detection module. The Passlock system essentially becomes a consumer deterrent, preventing an owner from starting their own vehicle with their own key. I have researched this problem on the internet and found out this happens with all GM theft deterrent systems... Passkey I, Passkey II, Passlock, it doesn't seem to matter. It seems to me to be just another GM scam to sell a consumer a GM replacement part for something that should never wear out. To top it off, private auto mechanics won't do anything to bypass the failing system for fear of a lawsuit if the vehicle is subsequently stolen. I, for one, will never buy another GM (government motors) vehicle!

I have a 2004 GMC Canyon, purchased new in Feb. 2004. It is equipped with the GM passkey II system. This is intended to act as a theft deterrent by shutting down the flow of gas to the fuel injectors if someone attempts to start the vehicle with a key which does not...

I couldn't agree more!! I encourage you and anyone else who is reading this to call the DOT Auto Safety Hotline and file a complaint.

The call is toll free and will result in their engineers investigating this issue.

Dial 1-888-327-4236. There is strength in numbers....if you want to make GM responsible for this defect, call the hotline a lodge a complaint!

I am 58 years old I have own only gm cars & trucks. 2000 bonneville 2 transmissions, window regulators the list goes on,2004 trailblazer ext $42,000 list qualified for lemon law,Decided to keep it after given bumper to bumper for 80000 miles. What a mistake that was..... Name it they fixed it or tried.LAST count $28,000 in warranty and climbing...Should of crushed it ..... cheaper. Biggest pos I ever bought, never again gm. Good luck keeping your nose above the water line.Any ways sold the car purchased an audi a4 wow nite and day. Oh yea rusting truck is going soon!!!

General Motors in Abbotsford, British Columbia - GM voided warranty

Would never buy another GM vehicle. Bought a 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel 2 years ago in May 2008. We bought the truck used from a Lexus dealership and was told we had factory warranty still. The truck only had 13000 km when we bought it. This may 2010 long weekend we went camping and our truck broke down it was blowing white smoke, so we figured it may be a head gasket, but was not to worried due to the fact the truck only has 70,000 km on it and should be under warranty. The GM dealership that we take the truck to calls us back 4 days later to say that we no longer have warranty, GM implemented a rule 10 months ago that there must be an "engine calabration snapshot" taken before any warranty work is done and if the numbers don't match up then they void your warranty due to engine modifications being done...eg. A chip put in. We know fir a fact and can take a lue dector test that we never put a chip in the truck. We have been fighting with the dealership and GM to get this truck fixed , which we now found out the truck needs a new engine. No one seems to be trying to help us, and the fact of the matter is it's GM's problem, they don't have a time stamp as to when the engine was modified, as well how did dealerships or people know that they should get and "engine calabration snapshot" done when they buy a used vehicle when the rule just got implemented 10 months ago. We are not finished fighting yet, even if we have to go to court. ****just a heads up beware when buying used, ask to get the vehicle inspected and make sure you do have valid warranty*****

General Motors in Kingwood, Texas - GM

# 1..GM closed all dealers within 45 miles of where i live.. I have owned dozens of GM vehicles...I have had nothing but trouble with my 2004 Malibu...This car has caused more problems than all the GM cars that I have owned combined...numerous steering shafts replaced..continuous rattles bumps in the front.Why didn't GM fix this problem?!... GM has announced that they are building a 212 million dollar plant in MEXICO when we need jobs here in the USA. Paid big bonus's to the CEO & EXE's There is a FORD dealer within 20 miles.... MY NEXT VEHICLE WILL BE A FORD!!! SCREW GM1

we fell behind on car payments because of a job loss and asked wells to see if they could help and they said no. prior to this we never had a late payment, and when i did go back to work they still would not help!! we also had a loan with national city and they gave us 2 months off and worked with us and they where nice to us. wells was so mean and not caring,. are there any law suits out there? if so let me know. thank you very pissed consumer !!!!!!!!!!! wells hire people that understand English not Ebonics

General Motors in Phoenix, Arizona - 2010 Buick Lacrosse=Lemon

My 2010 Buick Lacrosse purchased in Gulfport is a Lemon!! Already had to replace 1 window; the front end coming off; can't use a power washer because the window will leak; the overhead fabric came loose; lost power while driving Twice and Now - the radio/onstar mode/inside lights did not work on deman but stayed on when the power was off. TODAY - I have no power - the battery is gone. I called 2 dealers on Saturday. The 1st one said they didn't have a satelite person working on Saturday. The 2nd one said no one can help me on Saturday. I was 30 miles from my home! I asked both of them what shall I do when the car's battery is drained from the lights staying on? I didn't get an answer that would satisfied a 2 year old!

My 2010 Lacrosse has a banging noise on rough roads.This car has been in the shop seven times and it is not fixed yet.This car has 3637 miles on it the people I talk to at Customer Assistance center have no idea what thay are doing.I worked for a GM grage for 19 years.Some one call me between 11AM and 11:50 AM to get this car fix or replaced I tell every one hear in Berwick Pa.about this problem I am haveing to get this car fixed.Dave Lions at Berwick has done to take care of this problem but it is still their.Call me at 570-752-7631 and we will talk.

I will not buy another general motors vehicle

I Have a 2003 chevrolet Avalanche with a 5.3L vortec engine with 70,000 miles that was well maintained but it has cracked heads. I called general motors for assistance on this issue. but they denied my claim. After researching this problem I found that other consumers were having the same exact problem. it's probably not cracked heads but the head gaskets, the dex cool 2 coolant eats up the head gasket material, their was a class action law suit on this issure, i don't know if it's still going on or if it's all been settled
