General Motors in Spokane, Washington - Beware- 2005 Pontiac G6 GT

This vehicle was released to sell with a major flaw in the steering which will lock up on you after 50,000 miles, it will be the biggest headache and do nothing but spend your money. I will list what is wrong with my G6 and it has 54,000 miles as of today. 1) The 17 inch wheels are so week any little bump in the road will cause you to bend them which makes the vehicle shake at high speeds. 2) as I mentioned up above the steering locks up at random which has caused numerous crashes which I have gathered information from safercar.gov. 3) The EGR valve has started sticking open causing the engine light to come on, which has gotten me nothing more then a 100 dollar car wash to the dealership for them to tell me it would be 620.00 to fix and send me on my way (this valve is an emissions unit). 4) The panoramic sunroof has stopped working twice which is as big as the roof of the car when it's fully opened. 5) The brakes and rotors have been replaced twice. there are to many to list find more on safercar.gov on any vehicle made. If you are looking into getting one of these cars please be aware that the dealership will not fix any of these problems unless it's a recall and most all these issue's are just service bulletins. THANKS GM and they wonder why we buy imports... GOOD LUCK

2007 Pontiac G6.

Last week I learned our "certified used" G6 we bought just over a year ago had to have the wheel bearings replaced luckily that was under the warranty.

However, they also discovered the ball joints were "loose" not trusting the dealership we took it for a second opinion. The new opinion was they were a little loose and needed to be replaced in the next few weeks. My problem here is the car only has 51,000 miles on it. Why won't GM recall this car?

Where I got my second opinion they said they have seen a lot of these cars in with the same problem (along with the Malibu's) they said their supplier has had to keep the part in stock because of the failures. Thanks GM now we have to come up with $600.00 to pay for your poor choice in quality of parts.

Is it worth my time to complain to GM or by the looks of other posts it won;t make a difference. :cry

I am writing this on behalf of a consumer that i made repairs for a 2008 pontiac G5 This car has less than 100,000 klm,and needed ball joints x2.Was not able to get the single joint, had to buy the full assembly. The struts gone, roters gone, rubber mounts gone.I know the owner, and the car was not abused.

\"Let it be known GM\" with your award winning car commercials, and how your \"facts\" like your lower fuel cost`s ect. The bottom line is what the consumer should know on the people who`s protection plan runs out ect. Don`t be fooled by hyped up looks, fancy grills, and headlights. From what i see about the G5 and chevy COBOLT,along with other new models is a desposable money pitt. These cars are all about shiny looks, but lack quality.Desighned to keep the part`s department working hard.

\"WARNING\"..Consumers beware is my message.I have owned almost 200 cars,The repair cost is the worst i have seen yet.

I foresee a \"bailout\" again in the near future.I have other chevy owners telling me simular stories. Another chevy lumana disaster.I hope students, and others take a good look at the \"long run\" before buying a gm product.Good on gas is not much good when you have to spent $2000 in repairs on a shiny G5 that`s less than 5 years old.The owner of this car say`s \"you need a trunk of money to drive it\",and \"maybe i will shine it up,and try to sell it\" Smartin up GM stop bragging, and look at the long run like honda, toyota, subaru, ford, volvo ect.If your going to replace the old models you need to improve more than the looks.I have a ford tauras se,and its 10 times the car any gm has for the money. No parts fell off,and the ride, and handling is as good as new with 200,000 on it.So GM compare that to all the chev`s i seen so far.The fact is gm is only looking at sales to bail them out with anouther camaro, lumana, disaster. It seems GM stop making solid cars after 1975.

I am with you I am leasing a 2006 Pontiac G-6 and I have brought the car in to the dealership religously every 3 to 4 months only to find a new problem every time. I only have 59000 km on it and already I have changed both my front and back brakes, they want rotors changed, alignments, steering column problems.

I have spent close to $5,000 on repairs for a car that shouldn't need to be fixed on a car that was brand new less than 3 years ago. Toyota and Honda hear we come.

General Motors in Toronto, Ontario - Ripped off by dealership for $800.and 3 month labour warranty

I had 3 bushings replaced in the front end of my car because of a metal tapping noise.1 1/2 days later the noise was back. the cost of the repair,$800.00 with a 3 month labour warranty.taylor auto mall kingston ontario refused to uphold their warranty by rechecking the bushings to see witch one was defective, instead they came up with, its this problem, that problem, everything that cost me money, until the 3 month warranty expired, then said they will now charge me every visit. they have my $800.00 and my car still isn't fixed.nice repair and warranty scam

It really hurts me that gm is building cars that are only a few years old,and in need of such costly repairs in comparison to other, and almost all other car makers.I have owned almost 200 cars in the past 33 years. How gm is winning all those "best buy awards" is beyond me!!I just worked on one of many G5`S/COBALTS with ball joints,bushings,rotars/pads,engine mounts, and other foreseen problems. Also the Malibu is built cheaply, and the 2005 has faulty headlights that get hot,and melt ect...It seems to me they build them to look good, but they lack quality overall.I dont see these problems with many fords toyotas. In fact from what i see so far..all other brands will cost less to own in the long run.

General Motors in Green Bay, Wisconsin - GM has a problem with Corvettes

My Corvette battery goes dead without warning and the doors refuse to open. I'm not alone. Other owners blog about the same issues of Corvettes going dead. GM actually calls it DBS - dead battery syndrome. My dealer installed a new battery and had to flash the computers and I'm not sure that has solved problem. This is an issued that started with 2005 model year and continues through the current 2008. Dealers tell you to keep it on a trickle charger or drive it for at least 30 min. each time you start. BS!!! Got it back yesterday so now we see how long it lasts, but I hesitate to go on any trip where I have to shut if off and my dealer told me not to jump start it or it would blow out the HID lights. He said to call dealer if it would not start. That will be great if it's 2AM.

Having recently posing my thread about my monte carlo not starting "passlock" along with many others. I had to stop from laughing at what they told you.

It was *** histarical! DBS ! Dead battery syndome! So GM dealers are now auto DOCTORS!!!

Then maybe you should have written them a prescription for *** itis syndrome and given them some prozac to boot! to think we spend either 15,000/30,000, or 100,000....whatever the amount and they feed us these *** lines and band aid solutions just means that we need to have public hangings again! OMFG! I thought when you bought a corvette you were getting TOP NOTCH QUALITY!

OMFG! Have you had problems with pass lock 2 yet?

coming to a corvette theater near you soon!

I pray for you and all GM people who are getting rear ended!

Try keeping your key fob a good distance from the vehicle when not in use, it appears that the electronics stay activated if the fob is kept too close to the vehicle, possibly draining the battery. Same thing happened to one of my neighbors. :)

General Motors in Lansing, Michigan - CEO still sending jobs outside USA, but closing plants here

I'am wondering why are GM leaders are closing American Plants and still going to Mexico and who knows where else to build their American cars??? My wife and I bought a 2008 Saturn Outlook thinking why not support Americans, so we won't have to eat with chop sticks when we go to the resturants for a meal. Why not, when the leaders of our American companies, prefom any kind tricks the can think of, all for what will line their pockets best. I've been a GM customer for the last thirty-five years and now question my last purchase. I wish to thank-you, hope you enjoy

My 2002 Chevrolet pickup, 1500 series' brakes are nearly worthless at 19.000 miles of light duty use. They were failing at 12,000 miles but the dealer would not admit it. I have a repair estimate of $571.00 from the dealer now to fix the problem caused by rusted...

I was totally scammed at the Gm Feldman dealership in South Lyon Michigan for thousands of dollars, was pushed into a lease deal that I didn’t want, realized that the next day how stupid and blind I was.... and they would not let me out of the deal or give me my old car back, which they were about to make thousands of dollars off of as well... now I’m stuck in a three-year lease my payment is $100 more a month than it was when I was buying my old car and when I get the customer satisfaction survey I will give them the lowest grade possible ....low life punks!!

I liked and decided to get myself a new HHR. I like the car a lot. There are two problems with my getting it. First the dealer screws me with the price and loan payment amount then the windshield cracks. I have had this car for only three months and very careful not to...

I just happened to see this today and couldn't resist writing as part of a promise that I made to GMC when after many written letters and phone conversations to their headquarters. When my new GMC truck broke down on my way back to my home state I was promised that I would be completely happy with the end results and also promised that I would be paid for any and all expenses as a result of my breakdown.

when all was said and done I told GM Dealer that I would do everything that I could do to truthfully discredit GM by telling my story to all that would listen. I hold a very public job and meet and talk with many people everyday. I have been told by at least 15 plus people that they purchased a new vehicle other than a GMC product and thanked me for the information. 15 vehicles @ 30,000 each is a lot of money lost to GMC when it would have been easy for them to keep the promises made to me.

This is my promise.

I will continue to sway people away from GMC at every opportunity.

G Cyr Maine P.S. My dealer did all that they could and I have no fault with them.

Since Then I have had it at Pat O Brien GMC , Willouby, OH for the and the previous Dealer who sold this dealership to them twice for the same Problem. A check engine service light came on and the vechicle started putting. The claim it had to be decarbonized. They did it once , 6 months latter a second time. Now 12 mths latter i am going to have a independant Mechanic look at it for the same Problem. GMC Junk is what GM makes. I won't ever buy any GMC products again!!
