MY CHEVROLET CAPTIVA LT, PETROL, 2008 CAUGHT FIRE OUT OF THE BLUE. AS I WAS LATER INFORMED THIS CAR WAS RECALLED ACROSS THE WORLD FOR CAR FIRE POSSIBILITY/HAZARD.

THE CAR WAS IMPORTED FROM THE UK TO CYPRUS IN 2010. VIN KL1CD26RJ8B257085. THE FIRE WAS CAUSED FROM THE SAME REASONS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALLS. SUCH DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS MUST BE COMPLETELY WITHDAWN FROM THE MARKET SINCE ONCE THE FIRE BEGINS (IF YOU ARE ON THE MOVE) CENTRAL LOCKING IS ACTIVATED AND BRAKE SYSTEM FAILS AND YOU ARE CONDEMNED TO DIE. THANK GOD, MY INCIDENT HAPPENED AS SOON AS WE GOT OUT OF THE CAR (INCLUDING TWO KIDS)

I REQUIRE COMPENSATION AS THE CAR WAS ALMOST TOTALLY DESTROYED. WHAT ACTIONS SHOULD I TAKE? ANYONE CAN ASSIST?

THANK YOU,

That is what car insurance is for.

Maybe they will pay a claim, but not sure due to the fact you did not have the recall work performed to prevent the fire.

At least you can ask and see.

You should have taken it to the dealer and had the recall service taken care of, then you wouldn't have had this problem.
