I recently had an audio issue with my Silverado. Took it to the dealer and they said it needed a software update and it would cost me 105.00 to get it and install it. In my opinion they should have done it for nothing considering you could not hear the tun signals...

General Motors in Conroe, Texas - Why can’t Chevrolet compete

3.0
Details
I am the owner of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. I’m getting ready to purchase a new pick up and I am not choosing a General Motors product. I do think that the Vortech V8 engine is an excellent engine but the electronics and radio and speakers are *** I’ve had nothing but trouble with false sensors and antilock braking sensors, airbag sensors, radio and speaker issues for the last 10 years. My truck has 90,000 miles on it but problems started occurring at less than 30,000 miles. I’m very torn about purchasing my next truck from an overseas manufacture but when you make a $40,000 purchase , You only get one chance and Chevrolet missed it.

Update by user Jan 04

Warranty was not honored on a 2015 Cadillac Escalade on the paint job. It is a 4 year / 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.

The paint was peeling off the roof and hood with only 25,000 miles on the vehicle.

I have 28,869 miles on it today. I don't understand why it...

The old saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply to your Caddy, does it? I suspect neither the dealer or GM will cover this damage under the "ordinary wear and tear" or similar terminology.

I assume, since you live in Florida the car sits in the sun most of the time---you appear to not put many miles on it per year. The original paint application(s) at the factory were not done correctly and that does happen although I would have expected GM to at least split the cost to repair it with you. It's fixed now and there seemingly is no reason to ever buy another car from that dealer nor buy a GM vehicle again.

Next time you need a vehicle, shop around for something else. Good luck.

Top of the line for this model. Figured I would get a top notch truck. Boy, was I wrong. It has been in the shop for the 6th time for the same problem “diesel exhaust fluid quality is poor” and it slows you down by 10 miles per hour for each 50 miles you continue to...

GM is not repairing all 2.4 engines because of oil consumption and pcv freezing issue that blows the crank seal. They extendend the warranty on just 4 series and say they haven't seen issues with the others. All you have to do is look online and see the issues is with all 2.4 engines. Owners need help getting the issue resolved

General Motors in Bolingbrook, Illinois - Breaking exhaust manifold bolts, rusted fuel and brake lines

2.5
Details
I would like to file complaint on GM Exhaust manifold bolt defect and inferior brake and fuel lines. Mine is a 2005 gmc. The defective exhaust bolts affect about 12 million GM Trucks and SUVs. These include all GM Trucks and SUVs with V8 engines from 1999 to 2007. GM used exhaust bolts that are too small and too brittle for the job of securing the exhaust manifolds on millions of Chevy and GMC trucks. The heads are snapping off the bolts and causing exhaust leaks. To make matters worse they are screwed into aluminum heads and the bolts cannot be removed to repair the problem without snapping off even more bolts. Anti seize should have been applied to the bolts at the Factory so the bolts would at least come out without snapping off so a reasonable cost repair was at least possible. The exhaust leaks result in excessive noise, The trucks not passing emissions due to the exhaust leaks and dangerous exhaust fumes entering the drivers compartment of the vehicles while driving. I and my family get a carbon monoxide headache when I drive it and have had to pull over to the side of the road feeling like I was going to pass out, open windows and sit until I felt better. I have also had problems getting my truck to pass emissions due to the leaks and the leaks are causing the vehicles to be none EPA compliant because of O2 sensor errors resulting in failed emission test. Also the brake and fuel lines are not suitable for northern states causing brake failure with out warning, Fuel lines are all rusted and swelled in danger of bursting causing fire without warning. Ford and other vehicles I have worked on use stainless fuel lines and look like new for life of vehicle. I have also seen other manufacturers use powder coated brake lines on the entire vehicle and 20 year old vehilces show no rust problems with the lines. Also on My 2005 GMC from the rear end brake hose to the wheel cylinders they used powder coated brake lines. Those lines look like new yet. If GM Knew the powder coated lines were better why did they use faulty galvanized steel on the rest of the truck for brake and fuel lines? As it is now my truck can't be operated on the road without $3000 in repairs due to GM using poor quality parts. The truck has had these problems for over 5 years now and only has 138,000 miles. Trucks like this in southern states have over 250,000 miles and the lines are still good. A you tube video on Faulty exhaust bolts can be seen here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yG6WlBNZGI

General Motors - Broken Radio

2.6
Details
My radio on my 2015 Silverado changes channels on its own, screen flickers and goes blank. Its under warranty and i took it to my dealer where I bought it brand new. The dealer tried to update it through GM and they told him the radio was not the one that came with the truck and would not fix it. I bought the truck brand new and have never changed my radio and am extremely unhappy with GM. I cant imagine customer service being worse than accusing your customer of changing radio and basically calling him a liar. I guess it will be ford next time.
