General Motors in Phoenix, Arizona - 2002 Saturn L200 shutting off for no apparent reason.

3.5
Details
October 2016 Thank you Dr. Zach, I recently had the same problem with my 2002 Saturn L200 shutting off for no apparent reason. It was strange that the car would start and then it would die like there is something is wrong with the fuel pump. The next time the car dies for no reason everyone needs to look at the dash to see if the Security light is flashing. If it is flashing the security system just shut the fuel off to the car because something is wrong. I found that the problem with my pass lock system was that I bought a replacement key for $2 and it never worked right since I bought it. Sometimes I had to jiggle the key to get it to turn. I have even noticed that sometimes that the key was even hot after I took it out of the ignition after driving for a few miles. What I now understand is that there is a resistor network for key lock cylinder and if the key is not cut exactly like the original key the car the car will start and sometimes the security system will kick in while you are driving and then you get the Hot Key! Fortunately for me the car did not shut off while I was driving it but now the security system is on and the puppy will not start. So now to get the car to start again I had to put the key in a few times so the resistor network can read the pins on my key. Then I had to turn the key all the way forward and light up all of the dash panel lights without starting the car. Then I had to check to see if the Security light would come on with a steady light and then go out. Then I could start the car. I am now using the original big ugly silver Saturn key that came with the car and it has started every time. Note: My plan B is to solder the three wires (Black, White and Yellow) directly to the Pass Lock sensor. Thanks again Dr. Zach for the great blog and I would have never figured this out without your knowledge of the Pass Lock system.

2011 Lacrosse sunroof explodes at freeway speed, no overpass, trees or traffic within miles, was not a rock, it was a OEM design flaw, i thought it would be covered, not, but here's the bigger issue right now, they have had it for 3 weeks, only to inform me that there...

Just had the same issue, my wife was driving our new 2017 Buick LaCrosse on a four lane highway in Southern Alabama, no cars nearby, no houses, woods, limbs, people, etc... While driving my wife heard a loud "pop" and when my daughter opened the screen under the sunroof, the glass started to fall in.

Just contacted dealership and they have not heard of this situation before. Just starting the process of replacement.

I have worked in the automotive field 32 years and have never heard of releasing fluid from calipers. If the fluid was "released " from the front calipers and you had no fluid at the wheel cylinders in the rear then you had no brakes, period.

You could not stop the vehicle. The reason the lawyer does not want your case is because you do not have one.

General Motors in Wellington, Texas - Bad outside door handle design

4.0
Details
The drivers door outside handle came out (what holds it in must have come off inside the door. I searched it on google and many many people have had the exact same failure. The car is a 2008 Buick Lucerne that has been garaged all of its life and it has 60,000 miles on it now. When I checked for a recall since it is a common problem I found that there has not been a recall. The replacement of the outside door handle is a $175.00 expense caused by a poor design. The chromed plastic opener is not strong enough and the clips or the slip on fasteners are not strong enough to hold it in the door.

General Motors in Indianapolis, Indiana - The lease doesn't make sense.

4.4
Details
I leased a 2014 Sierra the 42,865 They had a sell and I also get a discount, well to make a long story short the lease say I can buy the truck for 25.719 at end of the lease by then I have 23,106 leased payments thus making the truck 49,000 7 grand more than list this doesn't make sense, so I tried to trade it in after 6 months. they said truck was worth 28.000 but how could it be worth 25,719 after 3 and a half years, by there figures I would only owe about 8 grand at the end of the lease, I think the dealership screwed me, and GM should be as angry as me, because if they are screwing and class a buyer what are they doing to the other buyers who don't get a discount. You think that you just drive the car for 3 years for nothing?

You didn't get screwed.

At all.

You agreed to pay a certain amount per month for 3 years of use of the truck.

At the end, you have 3 choices.

1) Turn it in and walk away

2) Turn it in and start over with a new lease on another vehicle 3) Buy it for the price agreed at the beginning of the lease

I guess that's why you stay anonymous, I leased this truck, and I'm a GM retiree, there are certain guidelines, I don't believe they followed those guidlines, sense my last contact with this dealer the salesman has quite, he had 20 years sen. The finance guy has quite also. I need GM to check this out.
