I am the owner of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. I’m getting ready to purchase a new pick up and I am not choosing a General Motors product. I do think that the Vortech V8 engine is an excellent engine but the electronics and radio and speakers are *** I’ve had nothing but trouble with false sensors and antilock braking sensors, airbag sensors, radio and speaker issues for the last 10 years. My truck has 90,000 miles on it but problems started occurring at less than 30,000 miles. I’m very torn about purchasing my next truck from an overseas manufacture but when you make a $40,000 purchase , You only get one chance and Chevrolet missed it.

GM chose to do a special warranty instead of a recall on the catalytic converter. Now my catalytic converter has gone out. 6 months over the warranty and 41,000 under the warranty. So because I don't drive my car daily they won't cover a part that they knew was faulty! This is exactly what they hoped for. Save money by doing a special warranty and not a recall. Charlene Sr Advisor at GM was rude to my husband, and refused to talk to me about the problem. So now I have to pay $1000 on a part that should have been recalled.

What you describe makes no sense. I see no reason why they would want to see your "receipt" when the warranty applies to the VIN of the vehicle, not the owner.

It sounds like there is a problem with ownership of the vehicle. You are rather obtuse in your description of the "whys" of the situation.

General Motors in Canton, Texas - Equinox nightmare

Bought my Equinox used (60,000 miles), and after 120,000 miles, I found out about the oil consumption issue with the 2.4 L Ecotech. Too late for GM to take care of it. Also, all sensors, except 3 have been replaced, and still don't have the power it did when I bought it. I do have a P0017 code; but, no one has figured out why. The related valve solenoid has been replaced, oil changed properly, and still get the code. GM dealer doesn't know, so I place no blame on them. I place it squarely on Chevrolet and GM. The 2.4 was used in various GM vehicles, and I've read numerous posts and threads on various sites about the poor quality of the 2.4. I don't know if the 6 cylinder version would have been any better or not. Won't buy another GM if I can help it.

General Motors in Weatherford, Texas - Gas mileage and intelilink

The gas mileage is terrible. Got better gas mileage with my Buick Enclave, a much larger vehicle. And, I hate, hate, hate the infotainment system. That Intellilink system is a waste of space. Also, had I known the car did not have a locking glove compartment, I would not have bought it. Never owned a car without a locking glove box, so I never thought about it. Also, hate the stiff punch key on the keyless entry. Worst car I've owned. I have less than 5,000 miles on this car and will be trading it off ASAP. Will never buy a GMC again.

General Motors in Austin, Texas - 1998 olds intrigue

bought new October 1997. Paid off October 2002. Reduced insurance coverage from full to liability. Driving to Austin (I lived 23 miles from town) to work car caught fire under hood while driving 55 mph had another motorist flag me down to tell me I was on fire. He had already called fire dept as they arrived on scene in two minutes to foam fire out. They were gone 5 minutes later as I found myself standing there bewildered on the side of the road with a total waste of 21,000 dollars smoldering away. Subsequently, without wheels, I lost everything including my home on 4.7 acres and everything in it. It would have been paid off in 3.5 years. Nothing but depression and homelessness ever since. Thanks GM for the recall notice 8 years later you sent to my moms house. I was somebody for years til I trusted y'all and your product. In 5 minutes my life burned away before my eyes. Tell me again about the American Dream.

wow, I would contact a attorney. There was a recall for a engine fire.

Not sure what could be done but I would try.

Surely a attorney would take the case with the stipulation that they only get paid if you win. So sorry to hear about your loss

purchased a new chevy silverado Z71 Southern comfort Black Widow from Tooran Foley in Mississippi.Purchased the extended warranty as well. Was told that the truck also came with a 2 yr,free oil change and tire rotation. Was also told GM would honor service and warranties anywhere in US. Well got to Ron Craft in Baytown Texas , for my first oil change and tire rotation and and find out that not the case. It would have been the case if i purchased the truck there tho. This is my first Chevy and my 7th new puchase. all others have been fords were i have always got dependable service and no problems from there trucks. Got a feeling im gona regret this purchase already. Should have bought the Ford Raptor instead.
